Bike riders raise funds for refugee volunteers

Twenty ASSA ABLOY Sicherheitstechnik employees who participated in a bike race in Germany in July have raised a total of EUR 2,000 for charity.

For each kilometer of the 83km Albstadt Bike Marathon, the company donated EUR 1 to a good cause. The money raised has now been donated to volunteers of an initial reception facility for refugees in the nearby town of Meßstetten.

“The discussion on the refugees’ situation resonates all over the country and determines the media reports,” says Siegfried Weber, plant manager at ASSA ABLOY Sicherheitstechnik in Albstadt.

“Appreciation of and tributes to the personal commitment of numerous volunteers is often missed out. But the people contributing their time and energy to people in need deserve our highest respect.

“That’s why we want to support people from the region that commit themselves for refugees from all over the world.”
